Welcome to Cathy Hasty Fine Art

The creative process is open to, good and even essential for, everyone.

The question is: are you going to create something today, or not?

Welcome. Take your time and wander through the words and the gallery.

The art is done for love and the opportunity to explore some moment more deeply.  I need to make art to integrate and maybe recover from work and life.   These visual expressions complement the work I do in various forms of spiritual direction and pastoral supervision; all seek to explore experience and make meaning.

The paintings, pottery and jewelry on this site are a small portion of my collection.  Email me if something captures your imagination, if you want to know how something was done and come back and see what else arrives.   I'd be curious about your thoughts and reflections.

I create some of my art from photos which I adjust using digital photography software.  If there is a photo you love which you want repaired, adjusted or made more "painterly,
email me and we can discuss the possibilities.

I remember a time when I envied people who could doodle.  Perhaps as early as middle school, I saw someone making random shapes on paper and wondered; how do they do that?  Doodling was a foreign language.  I set out to learn how to doodle.  I can safely say that, now, I know how to doodle.   The way I learned is summarized in the article on this site. Is there something you want to learn?  Some way you want to grow?  These stages may help you.

In the same way I am discovering, uncovering my unique creative style.    When I first heard of an artist statement or saw someone with a distinctive style, I was admiring and a little befuddled.  I read, took classes, prayed, wrestled, became a nurse, therapist, minister, chaplain, and supervisor while I plugged along, doodling, with art.  In some mysterious way all these pieces are connected, for me and I believe for everyone.
